Family Back Up service


Family Back Up is the name of the new and improved home visiting service that provides families affected by hemiplegia with one to one practical and emotional support.

What is it about?

Run by a team of qualified professionals with personal experience of hemiplegia, this service aims to provide suppport on the phone or in person on a range of different issues including education, access to benefits and other issues relating to life with hemiplegia.

How can I get a visit?

Through the HemiHelp Helpline you can speak with our trained volunteers who are themselves parents of children and young people with hemiplegia. They are available 10am-12pm and 7pm-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week during school term time 0345 123 2372. Find out more about the HemiHelp Helpline >>

If the Helpline and Family Back Up teams consider that you could benefit from extra support they will recommend you a home visit with one of our team members. Our home visitor will phone you for a first discussion on the matter and will arrange a visit with you.

Who is this available for?

This service is mainly aimed at parents and it's available in England, Wales and Scotland. Visits are not available in Northen Ireland at the moment but our members can speak to our Family Back Up team on the phone. We hope to offer visits there in the future.
