The HemiHelp Fun Run
The HemiHelp Fun Run in Victoria Park, East London is a fundraising event for of all ages; with a 10k race for adults, and a 3k route for families and under 16’s. Many of the participants are members of HemiHelp, but people from the local area also get involved. The emphasis is on having FUN and we encourage participants of all standards to get involved, whether they run, jog or walk.
Entry to the 10K is £20; signups are then directed to set up an online fundraising page. Each runner receives a running t-shirt! The 3K is free to enter for anyone aged 9-16. Children aged 8 or under will need to be accompanied by a fee paying adult. All finishers receive a medal.
Our third HemiHelp 10k and 3k Fun Run was took place on a crisp autumn morning Sunday 18th October 2015 and we were delighted to have more than 100 runners register for the 10K, and over 50 participants ran, walked and scooted the 3K route!
This brilliant turnout not only created a fantastic atmosphere with lots of supporters giving out high fives and loud cheers, but also a very impressive fundraising total. More than £12,000 was raised for HemiHelp! This money will enable HemiHelp to reach more families who have just received a diagnosis that their child has hemiplegia. It will allow us to inform and support these families throughout their journey, to ensure every child with hemiplegia reaches their full potential.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially to all our lovely volunteers, especially to Laura and the fantastic team from Victoria Park Harrier and Tower Hamlets AC for all their help and support. And to Carolina and Eduardo from Blanco Personal Fitness for the brilliant warm up and cool down exercises which certainly eased the aching limbs!
The run will return to Vicky Park in 2016... Watch this space.
