Fancy a laugh? Not 'alf!
HemiHelp’s night at the London Comedy Store has become a regular event.
On 12th October 2015 the brilliant Paddy Lennox persuaded a group of comics to kindly give up their evening to raise funds for HemiHelp.
HemiHelp’s night at the London Comedy Store has become a regular fixture in our calendar.
Once again we were blessed with the presence of Paddy Lennox, the fourth time he’s organised the night and compèred for us. He was joined by Aisling Bea, Luisa Omielan, Tim Renkow, Pippa Evans and Greg Davies.
More than 200 people were in the audience helping to raise money for HemiHelp. We had some really generous raffle prizes donated, including a 40 inch television, so the raffle tickets on sale before the show were very popular. So far the evening has raised over £3,600. And as well as funds we raised awareness with a screening of our brand new film ‘What is Hemiplegia?’ commissioned especially for Awareness Week.
As well as a wonderful audience, the comedians were brilliant too. There were tales about growing up in rural Ireland from Aisling and Luisa gave full vent to her opinions on the life of women in modern Britain. Tim shared anecdotes about his life, including many about how people treated him because of his cerebral palsy and Pippa brought her guitar with her, including the audiences in her songs and stand-up.
And how many people there that night went to work the next day and re-enacted Greg’s story about a fart and a Spanish man’s reaction to it for their colleagues? Probably most of them. That’s how funny it was.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make the night such a success. We hope to see you next year.
