Led by professional drama and music workshop leaders, the free of charge day will involve activities for children and young people to have fun and learn and explore a variety of skills. The drama sessions will be led by Mind the Gap theatre company, a fabulous inclusive theatre skilled in running workshops for all ages and abilities. The younger years will get a taster for drama through games and activites designed to inspire and excite the imagination. The older years will get to take part in an interactive workshop, based around the novel by Harper Lee, 'To kill a mockingbird'.
The music sessions, led by Mike and Laura (from the Live Music Now scheme) who ran a brilliant workshop for HemiHelp in Glasgow last year, will involve fun activities for participants to explore creating sounds and rhythm, using a variety of percussion from drums to boomwhackers, and there will also be an opportunity to try out some brass instruments. The music workshop will be tailored to suit the groups' ages.
The day is for the whole family so siblings are welcome and encouraged to come along and take part as well. For parents, there will be teas and coffees provided throughout the day and our home visitor for the north of the UK will be at our information stand to chat to you about any queries you may have. After lunch, there'll be an opportunity to get together more formally with other mums and dads for a discussion led by our home visitor to give parents the opportunity to raise issues and share information on any such as education, behaviour, equipment, benefits etc.
