Fun Day Belfast 2011
It was a long time since we had been to Belfast so the HemiHelp team were delighted to meet approx. 20 families from the surrounding regions at the Queens University Physical Education Centre in September 2011.
We ran four activity sessions for each child and their siblings throughout the day (the children had chosen their favourites out of a possible choice of 8!) Activities ranged from 5-a-side Football, yoga, badminton and swimming and also a very popular session of dodgeball, basketball and a very messy arts and crafts session!
One of the most encouraging comments of the day came from a parent who said “So often we see our son holding back when he’s joining in sports with his peer group at school, so it’s just lovely to see him really enjoying himself and ‘going for it’ without feeling self-conscious.” The very same child was so taken by dodgeball that we put his parents in touch with Disability NI who are now hoping to start up a new dodgeball club. This just proves that “you won’t know unless you give it a go!” so we do hope you can come along to our next Fun Day.
