Want to have your say about having hemiplegia?

Opinion Leader in collaboration with HemiHelp is currently running a research project on the subject of hemiplegia.

Research means when people read about something and talk to people about it so they can find out what it means and how they can tell other people about it.

Opinion Leader is an independent market and social research company and is working with HemiHelp on a pro-bono charity initiative. HemiHelp is a UK based charity working with children and young adults have hemiplegia.

Opinion Leader – This is the name of a company the people’s job is to ask questions and read information about something so they can write a report f or HemiHelp.

Pro-Bono means that the company are helping HemiHelp with research without asking HemiHelp for money.

Opinion Leader will run a series of meetings in December 2010 to find out the views of people who are living with hemiplegia to talk about their experience with the impairment and how they came to find out about HemiHelp. This research with you will help HemiHelp to discover ways to improve their charity’s services.

In particular, Opinion Leader would really like to speak to those who are children, young adults and adults living with hemiplegia and parents of someone living with hemiplegia.

The people who are doing the research for HemiHelp will be doing this by meeting people in person. They want to speak to children with hemiplegia teenagers with hemiplegia, adults with hemiplegia and their mums and dads. If you cannot meet in person, the people who are doing the research for HemiHelp will send you a short questionnaire in January 2011.

There are three ways to take part:

1. Face-to-face focus groups in Opinion Leader’s offices in central London (December 2010).

Coming to London and talking to someone who will ask you questions. (You can bring someone like a friend or parent to help you.)

2. Online discussion for young adults (December 2010)

This is where you type or say answers using a computer. (You can ask someone to help you.)

3. Short Online Questionnaire (January 2010)

This is where you type you answers on a computer where all the questions are written down (You can ask someone to help you.)

To register your interest in the research and to find out how you can be involved, please follow this link: http://freeint.limeask.com/42962/lang-en and fill out the registration questionnaire, which will help us determine times and dates for the face-to-face and online focus groups.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONNAIRE IS TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN TAKING PART ONLY. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE ANY PART OF THE RESEARCH ITSELF. WE ASK YOU SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CHILD TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN TALK TO AS WIDE A RANGE OF PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.

Please can you tell us the answers to the questions on the next few pages. These questions are to make sure we have lots of different types of people talking to us.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please email us at hemihelp.research@opinionleader.co.uk.

Or give us a call on 0207 861 3080 and say ‘HemiHelp research’ to talk to either Jess or Martyna.
