You can support HemiHelp by donating online today

HemiHelp provides the UK's only holistic support service for people with hemiplegia and their families via a helpline, email, online support, and through home and school visits. With this appeal we are aiming to raise £15,000* to enable us to maintain the quality and value of our essential services.

HemiHelp Support - Helpline

"Lisa provided a much fuller service that I asked for or expected. It was really helpful and useful. She allowed me to speak at length about our family's situation and not once did I feel rushed or the need to wrap the call up. It was great to be able to speak in this way."

Many parents of children with hemiplegia feel isolated because they don't know other families in the same position and are unsure of what kind of future their child will have. They reach out for help at key points in their child’s life, in moments of crisis and when they are in need of emotional or
practical support.

HemiHelp Support - Home Visits

Home Visits

"My little boy Billy was diagnosed with right-sided hemiplegia a few years ago. A few months later, Amanda, one of HemiHelp’s home visitors, came to our house and helped me make sense of it all. [...] Amanda's visit made me see there was light at the end of the tunnel – because she'd been there with her own family."

Our support services exist to help children, just like Billy, and provide a lifeline for the whole family.

HemiHelp Support - School Visits

School Visits

"I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Hemihelp for visiting our son and his school. As a consequence, the school are better placed to support our son and help him develop. The changes that the school have now implemented are already making a positive impact on our son, his confidence and his personal development."

We increase understanding of hemiplegia and train teachers to recognise and respond to the hidden aspects of the condition such as perceptual impairments, specific learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural issues, which can have a huge impact on learning.

HemiHelp Support - Online

Online Support

"The personal experiences on the Facebook group have been really valuable especially the fact that people respond to posts so quickly. It is really unique to have that."

Many people with hemiplegia and their families feel very isolated so we have expanded our support to include email and social media. Our moderated Facebook group has developed into an invaluable forum for families where they can ask questions and share experiences in a supported environment.

Please support us today

HemiHelp relies almost entirely on voluntary income and in these uncertain times this is increasingly challenging. Please make a donation today so that we can continue to give specialist advice and information to families who need our help.

Thank you for your support. Your contribution will help to keep this service running.

*In the unlikely event that we raise more than our target, any surplus funds will be used to help with our general work supporting people with hemiplegia and their families. Our target for this appeal is £15,000 - please help us reach this goal.
